What the scan checks
Text alternatives
Images, image links, icon buttons and iframes are checked for alternatives a screen reader can announce.
Forms and controls
Every input, select and button is matched to a label or accessible name, and empty controls are flagged.
Contrast and readability
Contrast ratios are computed from the page's own colours, with separate thresholds for normal and large text.
Structure and navigation
Heading order, page language, document title, duplicate IDs, vague link text and disabled zoom are all reported.
Broken links
Outbound and internal links are probed so dead ends do not strand assistive-technology users mid-task.
SEO overlap

No automated tool can certify a site as ADA compliant on its own — roughly a third of WCAG criteria need human judgement. That is exactly the part we do not skip.
What the score actually means
The score is a summary of the findings on the page you scanned, weighted by severity. It is a useful way to track progress between scans and a poor way to prove compliance — no honest tool can hand you a passing grade for a whole site from one automated pass. Treat a high score as "nothing obvious is broken here" and use the human verification step for the questions automation cannot answer.

- How does this website accessibility checker work?
- You enter a web address. The scanner fetches the page, parses its HTML and styles, and runs WCAG 2.1 rules covering text alternatives, form labels, headings, landmarks, link purpose, colour contrast, language and page structure. You get a scored report in under a minute.
- Is the accessibility checker free?
- Yes — two complete scans every day at no cost, with the full findings list and the report export. The daily allowance resets at midnight UTC. Paid plans add volume, not extra checks.
- Does it check pages built with JavaScript?
- The scan reads the page's server-rendered HTML. Content that only appears after JavaScript runs in the browser is not analysed, so a heavily client-rendered app needs a browser-based test as well. We say so plainly in the report rather than quietly scoring you on half a page.
- Can an accessibility checker replace an accessibility audit?
- Not on its own. Automation reliably catches a portion of WCAG failures; the rest need a person. Here the automated pass is followed by human verification of the findings you act on, which is the part most free checkers leave out.
- Can I share or export the results?
- Every scan can be exported as an accessible, tagged-heading PDF or an HTML report, and signed-in users keep a private history of their past scans.
